HOW DOES AIRBRUSH TANNING WORK?

The active ingredient in sunless tanning solutions is dihydroxyacetone,  a sugar derivative that  reacts with the amino acids in the outermost "dead" layer of your skin affecting the natural pigmentation. Although DHA is clear and takes about 6-8 hours to develop, most airbrush solutions also include a bronzer which provides instant color for the client and also acts as a guide for airbrush technicians. As DHA develops the client should notice a tan about twice as dark that will last up to 10 days.

 

WHAT TANNING SOLUTION DO WE USE?

 

At Sun Chetaers Tanning and Waxing we only use Norvell sunless tanning systems. Norvell is the best selling sunless tanning product in the tanning industry, are also ranked number one in customer satisfaction. Norvell contains a very little amount of bronzers which leads to a flawless,light weight tanning session.


WHAT IS THE DIFFERNCE BETWEEN AN AIRBRUSH TAN AND A BOOTH SPRAY TAN?

The sunless tanning industry is at an all time high and the two main choices for consumers tend to be airbrush tanning and using a spray booth. Both choices offer full body tanning but they are by no means created equally, nor do they give the same results. Booth spray tans involve no customization because the there is an even distribution of solution usually occurring over an uneven canvas.  Meaning if you already have an uneven base tan are not the ideal body shape and have freckles or sunspots you are most likely left with and uneven blotchy tan. To make matters even worst some booth spray tan solutions are composed of mostly alcohol making the skin very dry and inhibiting the tan from developing properly. WHAT AREAS OF CENTRAL FLORIDA DOES  SUNCHEATERS TRAVEL TO FOR  MOBILE TANNING?

For individual tanning we will travel within 10 miles of winter park, including, but not limited to, Downtown Orlando, Altamonte Springs, Maitland.

For Tanning or Bridal Parties we will travel as needed, to areas in Florida depending on the party size. For parties of four or more the host receives a complimentary tan.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR A TAN?



When getting an airbrush tan it is very important to prepare correctly ensuring flawless results.



The first step is SHAVING AND WAXING; this should be done the day before or the day of your tanning session. Make sure if getting waxed the day of your tan that there is no oil or wax residue left on the skin. Since waxing and shaving are a type of exfoliation doing so after a tanning session will shorten the life of the tan.



The second step is EXFOLIATION; this should be done the day of a tan and will directly affect the duration of a tan. Since DHA only affects the top layers of skin exfoliating will make sure that a fresh new layer of skin will be available to become tan. Exfoliation gloves and any type of oil free products (usually facial scrubs) are your best choice for the exfoliation process.



Last but not least making sure to have CLEAN AND DRIED SKIN, is very important in the pre tanning procedure to ensure that the DHA can have full absorption into the skin. Cleansing with bar soap (not dove or curel) before a tan will help to dry out the skin. Also make sure not to apply any lotions, oils, deodorants, perfume, makeup or anything that will prevent a barrier between your skin and the tanning solution.



WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING THE TANNING PROCESS?



First Relax, airbrush tanning is quick and easy and within no time you will be beautifully bronzed.

Whether you are having an in-studio sessions or a mobile session, one of our technicians will perform a full consultation so we can make sure to address all of your tanning needs. If having a mobile tanning session our technician will assist you in deciding the perfect place to set up our pop up tent, preferably in a space will adequate lighting and a hard surface. Most clients prefer the bathroom, kitchen, or garage.

Ladies can wear whatever they are most comfortable in, most clients prefer to have no tan lines on their upper body and opt for just wearing a thong bottom.  Gentlemen are required to wear boxers or briefs.

Make sure to remove all jewelry.



The tanning process usually takes around 10 minutes and a drying time of about 5 minutes. However the longer you dry the better, when getting dressed make sure to have dark colored clothing preferably a robe or sun dress. Airbrush solution has been known to stain silk, satin, or leather, so it is best to bring a towel with you to your tanning session if you have light leather seats in your car. Other fabrics including cotton are perfectly safe and if they do get any solution on them it will come right off in the washing machine.



WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER A TANNING SESSION?



After your tanning session make sure to stay completely dry for 6 to 8 hours so the DHA has ample time to develop, any contact with water to your skin will automatically deactivate the DHA from developing. For best results most clients prefer to sleep overnight before taking a shower. When taking your first shower if possible it is best to quickly rinse off with warm water and no soap. For the duration of your tan avoid soaking in water including pools and hot tubs. Also make sure to stay moisturized by applying out TONED tan extender twice daily.



And remember taking care of yourself and your skin on a daily basis will do wonders for your tan. Make sure to drink plenty of water, refrain from excessive work out, and take all of your vitamins.
